Storm the Bastille! Vive la France!

Bastille day is France’s national holiday to commemorate the storming of the Bastille. The Bastille was a prison that the French monarchy used to lock up anyone who did not agree with them. On July 14, 1789, a large number of French citizens gathered together to attack the prison and this was the start of the French Revolution.

Yes, I am an American, and yes, I’ve been posting flags and fireworks all day today, but the 4th of July is a very special holiday for me. Whatever your political affiliation, I think it’s important to remember the lives of the brave men and women who sacrificed everything for their loved ones back home.
